Why is it important to support Autism and it’s research?

One in 68 children are diagnosed with this disorder and affects all races, ages, and socioeconomic groups of people.  In fact, you probably know at least one or two families who are raising a child with Autism.  Families that have one child on the spectrum have a 2-18% chance of having another child on the spectrum.

Autism is the fastest growing developmental disorder in the United States.  It is also the least funded.  Studies show that the California Department of developmental Services spent more than $26, 500 per adult diagnosed in the 2012-2013 fiscal year.  Serving children and adults with a developmental disorder is expensive.  Some research is funded by Autism Speaks; they are collecting donations to help fund more research for this spectrum disorder.
