As parents, sometimes it is hard to distinguish between your child just being in a bad mood or if there is really something deeper going on they are not telling you about.  If your child is bullied, it can take on many faces with your child.  This blog will go into what to look for if you suspect your child might be the victim of bullying.

To help you identify if your child is being bullied at school, here are a few things you might notice in your child:

  • Coming home from school hungry because they did not eat their lunch
  • Unexplained cuts or bruises
  • Missing books or toys
  • Faking illness to stay at home from school frequently
  • Difficulty sleeping or nightmares
  • A decline in grades or loss of interest in school
  • Lower self-esteem

Be sure to talk to your children and gauge their responses to help you decide if your child might be the victim of bullying.  Some students might say they are being bullied, when in fact they are not.  On the contrary, some students might try to hide the fact they are being bullied by their parents because they feel threatened by someone else.  Kids who are bullied often have feelings of helplessness and they are unsure what they should do to make it stop.
